Instructions

    • 1

Assemble your supplies. Gather enough wax or tracing paper to cut 8 equally sized squares. Keep in mind that each of these squares will create a point of the star, and size them accordingly. Add color to translucent paper by gently shading each square with crayons. Cut 8 equally sized squares from your paper, measuring to ensure that each is identical in size.

    • 2

Lay one square on your work surface, oriented like a diamond with points on the top and bottom. Fold the square diagonally in half along the horizontal center. Crease well and unfold. Fold the left and right side corners in until they meet the central crease. Crease well.

    • 3

Repeat step 2 until all 8 squares are folded. You should have 8 individual pieces. The folded pieces should resemble a kite shape, with the longer point oriented as the bottom of the piece and the smaller triangular portion as the top.

    • 4

Take two squares, and place a small amount of glue on the top right corner of the first kite-shaped piece. Place the second piece on top of the first piece and over the glue. Be sure to align the top left side of the second piece with the top center crease of the first piece, so both top points align and the pieces overlap.

    • 5

Rotate the two glued pieces slightly left so that the second piece is directly in front of you. Repeat Step 4 to add the remaining six pieces onto the star. When adding the final piece to the star, place glue on both the right side of the seventh piece and the left side of the first piece to secure.
