How to Learn How to Fly on LeafGreen

Players of "Pokemon Leaf Green"can teach their flying-type Pokemon to fly by using the HM Fly, which is located west of Celadon City on Route 16. Once this skill is learned, Pokemon can use the HM Fly to automatically return to previously visited cities or as an attack in battle. The HM Fly is nondisposable and can be taught to any number of compatible, flying-type Pokemon. However, once learned, the HM Fly is permanent and cannot be forgotten, unlike other moves.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter Celadon City. From the Pokemon Center (the building with "P.C." on it), travel southwest until you reach the exit to Route 16.

    • 2

Follow Route 16 west until you reach a tree at the end of a fence. Order a Pokemon to use the HM Cut to chop down the tree.

    • 3

Head west into the building, past the old man, and use the western exit.

    • 4

Continue west and enter the house just to the north.

    • 5

Talk to the girl in the house. She will give you the HM02, which is Fly.

    • 6

Access your "Bag" from the menu screen and scroll through until you see the HM02. Select it to teach Fly to any compatible Pokemon.

Tips & Warnings

  • The HM Fly is effective in battle against fighting-type and grass-type Pokemon. You can check whether a Pokemon is flying-type by accessing the menu and selecting "Pokemon." Each individual Pokemon selected will show you what type of Pokemon it is.
