How Can I Do Notes & Tags on a Tumblr Post?

Tumblr's growing popularity makes it easier for your posts to get lost in the depths of your followers' Dashboards, leaving your posts starving for attention -- which on Tumblr equates to "Notes." Notes are Tumblr's version of comments and "likes" combined into one feature, which is automatically available on anything you post. People on Tumblr can "like," "reblog" or reply to your post, all of which appear as notes. The easiest way to prevent your posts from getting lost and feeling deprived of notes on Tumblr is to tag them. Tagging your posts also increases your chances of being featured on Tumblr's Explore page.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to Tumblr.com and log in to your account.

    • 2

Click an icon at the top of your Dashboard to create a new text, photo, video, audio, link, chat or quote post. Any new post you create automatically has notes enabled.

    • 3

Type your tags separated by a comma into the tag field, located in the right column of the "Create Post" page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Tags appear as links under your post. Click any tag to view all your posts related to it. Copy the URL with your tag and insert it into your theme's sidebar to create categories.
