The Proper Way to Draw a Pentagram
Most simply stated, a pentagram is a five-pointed star shape. In modern pop-culture, the inverted (upside-down) pentagram is associated with the occult and various forms of Satanism. This particular connotation has led to the symbol often being an object of fright. However, the shape has been used by various religious and esoteric groups going back to ancient Mesopotamia. According to some occultists, the shape comes from astronomical observations of the planet Venus' conjunctions with the sun. While some individuals may have trouble drawing this shape, knowing the procedure in advance makes it a simple task.

1
Place your pen down on the point you want the lower left point of your pentagram to lie.
-
2
Place the ruler next to the pen point, going upwards at approximately a 45-degree angle.
-
-
3
Make a line up to where you want the top point of the pentagram to lie. Shift your ruler so that it then points downward at approximately another 45-degree angle toward where you want your bottom right pentagram point to lie.
-
4
Draw your second line, stopping when the end of your line is parallel to the bottom left point.
-
5
Shift the ruler another approximately 45 degrees to make a line that crosses the first line you made and extends to the left of your shape. Draw another line across the ruler until you reach the point where you want the upper left point to lie.
-
6
Turn the ruler so that it cuts straight across the pentagram out to the right. Draw a line along the ruler until you reach the point where you want the upper right point to lie.
-
7
Turn the ruler to connect your upper right point, to the very first point you made in the lower left. Complete your pentagram by drawing a line across the ruler to connect these points.
