How to Hook Up a Linksys Wireless Router

Linksys produces routers geared toward home and small business networks. Most of these types of networks include 10 or fewer computers and devices. Linksys routers are designed to connect to a single high speed Internet connection, such as cable or DSL, and share it among multiple different computers and devices. The Linksys default factory condition allows the router to be connected and operating with little, if any, additional configuration. You can hook up a Linksys wireless router to share a high speed Internet connection on the local area network.

Instructions

    • 1

Power off the Internet connection device and the Linksys wireless router, if powered on.

    • 2

Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of the Internet connection device.

    • 3

Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the "Internet" or "WAN" port of the Linksys router.

    • 4

Power on the Internet connection device and wait approximately two minutes for the signal to synchronize.

    • 5

Power on the Linksys wireless router and wait approximately 30 seconds for the router to initialize.
