How to Disable DHCP Function on a Belkin Wireless G Router

The dynamic host configuration protocol allows computers and devices to receive their IP address information automatically. A Belkin Wireless G Router acts as a DHCP server to provide clients with an IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server information. DHCP also keeps track of each computer and device on the network so that duplicate IP addresses are not given out. You can disable the DHCP function on a Belkin Wireless G Router when the functionality is not needed on the network.

Instructions

1. Open a Web browser, then type "192.168.2.1" without quotes into the address bar. Press "Enter."

2. Click "Login," then "Submit."

3. Click "LAN Settings" under the "LAN Setup" category.

4. Click "Off" under the "DHCP Server" section.

5. Click "Apply" to save and apply the settings.
