How to Have Twin Boys in "The Sims 3"

When Sims give birth to children in "The Sims 3" the result is random and can result in a baby of either sex or even multiple births such as twins and triplets. Although you cannot control whether you have twins in "The Sims 3," there are a few things you can do to increase your chance of having a multiple birth. Likewise, the sex of the baby is left to chance; however, you can influence the sex of the baby while the mother is pregnant to increase your chances of having boys.

Instructions

    • 1

Create twin boy characters in Create-a-Sim mode. This is the easiest way to ensure that your family has twin boys; however, you can only use this method before starting a new game. Create a boy Sim and then press the "Twin" button to create an identical twin of that Sim. You can then use the Create-a-Sim tools to alter the twin's personality, name and clothing if you so desire.

Complete lifetime wishes in order to earn enough Lifetime Happiness Points to give your Sim the Fertility Treatment Lifetime Reward. This reward costs 10,000 Lifetime Happiness Points and will increase your Sim's chances of becoming pregnant with twins. Both the mother and the father can take this reward and if both parents have the reward it will increase your chances even further.

Select the Sims you want to have a child and make them lay in bed. Select the "Try for Baby" option. The Sims do not have to be married, but they must be in a romantic relationship for this option to appear. Sims will not want to try for a baby if they are in a bad mood. If the attempt was successful you will hear a lullaby sound play, which will indicate that the mother is now pregnant.

Eat apples in between the time that the Sim mother became pregnant and when her pregnancy starts to show. When a pregnant Sim eats apples, it increases her chance of having a male baby. Apples can be purchased at the grocery store or picked off trees in your home or community garden. The mother should eat at least 10 before her pregnancy starts to show.

Prepare for the baby to increase your chances of having twins. Sim mothers prepare for the baby by reading books on pregnancy from the book store or library, listening to children's music on the radio or watching the kid's TV station.

Tips & Warnings

  • If one of your Sims is in the World Renowned Surgeon career, he will be able to interact with the pregnant mother and determine the sex of her baby.

  • Performing these steps will not guarantee twin boys, but will only increase your chances. If you do not obtain the desired results, try again or reset to an earlier save from before your Sim became pregnant.

  • Once the mother begins to show signs of her pregnancy, it is too late to influence the sex; however, you will still be able to improve your chances of getting twins.

  • Taking care of twin babies is more difficult than just one, so if you have no experience raising Sim babies you may wish to start a new game with twin boys who are already grown into children instead.
