Ludwig Pinnacle Drum Kit Assembly Instructions

The Ludwig Pinnacle kit is intended to provide new drummers with everything they need to get started. It's a full-size kit with snare drum, hi-hat, kick drum, cymbals, toms and a stool. The Pinnacle kit doesn't come with any setup instructions, and as a result, can be daunting for new users who won't be familiar with setting up a full kit. However, as the Pinnacle kit is of a generic design, setting it up will provide a valuable learning experience which can be transferred to any other type of kit.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the kick drum from its box; it will be the largest of all the drums. Remove the two large skins from the packaging, too. Locate the fittings for the two legs that protrude from the underside of the drum. These will be nearer the front than the back, allowing you determine which way round to fit the skins. The skin with the Ludwig logo is the front one; set this aside to start with. Place the bass drum with its front side flat on the floor and lay the back skin over the top. Place the wooden hoop on top of the skin and hang the hooks around the edge. Slide the screws through the holes in the hooks and tighten with the drum key.

    • 2

Flip the kick drum over and fit the front skin, identical to the rear one. Stand the drum up and remove the two tom rods from the packaging. Slot them into the holes on top of the kick drum and tighten them using the wing nuts. Fit the skins to the toms as with the kick drum and slide the toms onto the rods.

    • 3

Fit the skin to the floor tom and slide the legs through the mounting brackets on its sides. Tighten them using the drum key. Expand the legs on the three tripod stands and stand them up to help determine which is which. The kinked rods are for the cymbals, the one with a moving rod in the center is for the hi-hat, and the one with the pronged grips is for the snare drum. Fit the skin to the snare drum and place it on the stand. Slot the cymbals on to their stands with a felt cushion above and below. Lightly secure the cymbals with a locking wing-nut.

    • 4

Fit the two halves of the hi-hat to the stand by sliding them over the extended upper rod. Lock them in place with the wing-nuts and attach the pedal to the mount at the base. It should just hook on to the fitting at the foot of the stand. Fit the pedal to the kick drum in the same way.

    • 5

Assemble the stool by placing the cushioned part onto the base, and roughly arrange the kit in a standard layout: kick drum in the center, snare drum between it and the stool, one cymbal on each side, and the hi-hat to the drummer's immediate left. Sit at the stool and try to reach all the drums -- chances are you will have to make adjustments depending on the length of your limbs. Make small adjustments until you are happy with the setup. Tighten all the bolts securely.

Tips & Warnings

  • None of the drums should touch each other. Though you'll likely want to put them as close together as possible, if they touch, they will create a high-pitched buzzing sound.
