Killing bugs that are prone to hiding can be a challenging task. It takes time and effort to locate the bug and kill it, but it's worth the effort you put into this task.       Locate the bug and follow it to its hiding place. You may need a flashlight in case the bug's hiding place is in a dark area. Be prepared to move furniture and other objects in the search to find its hiding place. It is also possible the bug may have more than one hiding place. After you have located the nest you can then kill the entire colony.

      Keep something near you to kill the bug, such as a fly swatter, rolled-up newspaper or can of insect repellent. Be sure to have the object ready to be used on a second's notice. Once you have discovered the bug's hiding place, you will have a short window of opportunity to kill it. Aim carefully and be sure to kill the bug on the first attempt.

      Swatting the bug. Be quick and decisive when dealing the final blow. If you are fortunate enough to find the bug's nest, quickly kill the colony. It may be simpler to use insect repellent if there are many bugs or a colony in the hiding place.

      Clean up the dead bugs. Some insects, such as roaches, are cannibals and will seek out carcasses for food. To prevent more bugs from seeking out and hiding in your home, clean up all carcasses.
