How to Use Silver Paint With Glitter for a Movie Screen
You can create your own movie screen for home use, right on the wall of your home. The silver screen will sparkle just like the one in the theater. The trick is to use silver paint, which contains glitter. The glitter specks are actually mica or some other reflective material mixed into the paint. The reflective effect helps reflect the light from your projection into the room, rendering the image more intensely. Select a naturally dark room or one that you can darken for best results. In addition, the screen color mixes silver with gray paint. The silver alone is too strong for optimal viewing.

1
Sand the wall area for your screen. You can make the screen whatever size you want, but you may want to do a test projection if you plan on using the same projector for your viewing to select a particular size for the screen.
-
2
Prime the wall by rolling it with white latex paint.

-
3
Mix your screen paint. Start with 1 quart of white latex paint. Add a pea-sized amount of black tint and stir well. Your target color is light gray. Keep adding the black until the mixture is a light, pearly gray.
-
4
Add 8 oz. of silver liquid acrylic paint and mix well.
-
5
Roll on your screen paint and allow it to dry.
-
6
Roll a second coat of screen paint and allow it to dry.
-
7
Paint a black border around the screen with a paintbrush. Apply the black latex paint smoothly. The border absorbs overflow light to produce a crisper frame for your projection.
