How to Register the Cubase 5 Dongle
You must register your USB dongle eLicenser before you can start producing music with your purchased copy of Steinberg's Cubase recording software. The USB eLicenser dongle verifies that a Cubase user has the proper authorization needed to run the program by offering security protection for the developer. You will need to have the latest version of the eLicenser installed on your computer and your Cubase authorization code provided at time of purchase to complete activation. Connect to the Internet and download the latest version of the eLicenser Control Center (eLCC) software drivers from the e-Licenser website. Remain connected to the Internet for the duration of the registration process.

Plug the USB eLicenser dongle into an available USB port on your computer. The dongle will need to stay connected for the duration of the registration process.

Locate your Cubase activation code, then open the "eLicenser Control Center" application. Go to "Start," "All Programs," and select "eLicenser" from the list of applications if you are a Windows user. Select "eLicenser" from the "Applications" folder if you are registering on a Mac. Verify that the device is named in the "eLicensers" list before continuing.

Select "Enter Activation Code" and type your Cubase product license code into the appropriate field. Follow the next set of on-screen instructions for completing the rest of the registration process. Repeat this process for any additional Steinberg products you wish to register.
