Things You'll Need

  • Microwave-safe container
  • 2 tbsp. beeswax
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Wooden spoon
  • 1/8 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 cup distilled water
  • Pot
  • Blender
  • 1/8 tsp. vitamin E
  • Measuring cup
  • 2 4-oz. plastic bottles
  • 2 drops coconut essential oil
  • 1 drops pineapple essential oil
  • 2 drops orange essential oil
  • 1 drop ginger essential oil

      Break up 2 tablespoons beeswax in a microwave-safe bowl. Add 1/4 cup each of coconut and olive oil to the beeswax.

      Place the beeswax and oils in the microwave for 30 seconds on high heat. Stir the beeswax and oils with a wooden spoon, then heat for another 30 seconds. Repeat this process until the beeswax is melted completely.

      Drop 1/8 teaspoon baking soda into a cooking pot. Pour 1/4 cup distilled water into the pot and stir the two ingredients together. Heat the mixture until it comes to a boil.

      Empty the melted wax and oil solution into a blender. Adding one-fourth of the boiling baking soda solution at a time, blend on the highest setting. Continue to add the baking soda solution and blend it into the wax and oil until all ingredients are blended well.

      Allow the lotion to cool before stirring in 1/8 teaspoon of vitamin E. Pour half of the lotion into a measuring cup. Stir 2 drops of coconut essential oil and 1 drop of pineapple essential oil into the first half of lotion to create a pina-colada scent. Mix 2 drops of orange essential oil and 1 drop of ginger essential into the other half of lotion for an alternate tropical fragrance.

      Pour the lotions into plastic bottles. Store in a cool location, away from direct sunlight.
