Create moving stars with Photoshop.

Photoshop is not just a photo editor. It can be used to create a wide array of graphics and even simple animation. For example, if you would like to create an animation in which stars seem to fly by, either for a Web page or as a desktop background, this is easy to do in Photoshop.

Instructions

    • 1

Start the Photoshop application. Select "File" from the menu and choose "New." In the dialogue that appears, enter the width and height you want for your document. Click "OK."

    • 2

Select the "Paintbucket" tool from the toolbar and use it to fill the canvas with black. Click on the "New Layer" button at the bottom of the "Layer" panel.

    • 3

Select the "Paintbrush" tool and set the "Foreground" color to white. Use the brush to paint tiny points on the canvas to represent stars. Use the "Move" tool to move this layer's content almost entirely off the left side. Then paint more stars.

    • 4

Select "Window" from the menu and choose "Animation." Go to the time line at the bottom and click on the "Duplicate Frame" button. Under each frame, set the "Duration" you want.

    • 5

Select the second frame and use the "Move" tool to move the stars to the right until you can't move them farther without having an empty area.

    • 6

Click on the "Tweening" button in the time line and choose the number frames you want between the two you have. Click "OK."

    • 7

Select "File" from the menu and choose "Save for Web or Devices." In the dialogue, choose GIF as the file type and click "Save." Name the file and click "Save" again.
