How to Find If Something Trends on Twitter This Week

Social media utility Twitter allows a user to communicate with his network of "followers" using short messages known as "tweets." In spite of its succinct content, Twitter is fully searchable, something it accomplishes partially because of words and phrases users place behind "hashtags," which identify the main topic contained within a tweet. Browse Twitter's list of "Trending Topics" to see the most talked-about topics on Twitter this week.

Instructions

    • 1

Log into your Twitter account. You must be signed into Twitter in order to see the list of Trending Topics.

    • 2

Scroll down to the middle, right side of the page. Click any item listed under "Trends" to view all tweets related to that topic, which is among the most popular on Twitter at the moment.

    • 3

Click the "Change" button next to the word "Worldwide" to change the scope of your Trending Topics list. Click the name of the country to which you want to limit your Trending Topics.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the word "promoted" appears next to a topic listed under "Trends," it may or may not be popular -- some person or company has paid to have it listed there.
