How to Make Yourself Invisible to Specific People on Facebook Chat

The Facebook Chat friends list displays all of your Facebook friends that are currently online.

Facebook's "Facebook Chat" feature is an instant messaging service that allows you to instantly communicate with other Facebook users who are currently online. If you are logged onto Facebook, but do not want other users to message you in Facebook Chat, you can make yourself appear offline to them, effectively making yourself invisible. If you want to make yourself invisible to specific users, you can do so, though it requires you to make a list of the users you want appear offline to.

Instructions

1. Open your browser and navigate to the Facebook login page. Type your Facebook account email and password in the spaces provided and click the "Login" button to login to your Facebook account.

2. Click the "Friends" link on the left side of your Facebook home page, followed by the "Edit Friends" button. Click the "Create a List" button to create a list of the friends you want to appear offline to.

3. Enter a name for the list in the space provided and click on each friend that you want to appear offline to. Click the "Create List" button to create a list that contains all of the friends you selected.

4. Click the "Chat" button in the bottom right corner of the Facebook window to open Facebook Chat. The title of the list you created in Step 3 will be at the top of the Facebook Chat friends list. Click the green slider icon to the right of the friends list title to make yourself appear offline to the users in the friends list.
