Make your baby smile just in time for a picture.

Babies grow extremely fast, and many parents find it important to preserve the early smiles and laughs with pictures. Taking pictures of a smiling baby can be easier said than done as many babies decide the best time for a serious face is when a parent is eagerly trying to take a picture. Parents do not need to feel discouraged though, as there are many ways to help a baby smile right in time for a snapshot.

Instructions

    • 1

Play peekaboo with your baby. Hide your face behind a blanket where your baby cannot see you. Drop the blanket fast and make a sudden noise. Hide behind the blanket again. Come out from behind the blanket and make another sudden noise. Keep playing the game until your baby starts laughing.

Blow raspberries on your baby's stomach, feet, hands or neck where your baby is ticklish. Give multiple little kisses in the same parts of the body. Nibble on your baby's toes and fingers. Make silly eating noises.

    • 3

Whisper a story to your baby. Get close to his ear and tell him a funny story or sing a nursery rhyme. Tell your baby softly how much you love him, his siblings and other relatives.

Shake your baby's favorite toy in front of her. Smile for her and tell her to try to reach the toy. Play a game out of your baby trying to reach for the toy. Encourage her to extend her arms and reach for it. Praise her when she gets the toy: she will start laughing.

Dance with your baby. Turn on fun dancing songs. Hold your baby close to you and move to the music's rhythm. If the music has lyrics, sing along. Look at your baby and smile.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure your baby is fed, changed and rested so that he is happy and in the mood to smile.

  • Do not pressure your baby to smile; he will most likely get fussy.
