How to Get a Document From a Laptop to a Smartphone
Transferring files from your laptop to a smartphone is an easy way to back up the file, or just to have the file with you wherever you go. Important documents can be moved from your laptop to your smartphone using a USB cable that connects the phone and computer. This basic method of transfer should work for most laptops and smartphones, but your particular phone's user manual will have detailed instructions for your specific phone.

Connect the phone end of the USB cable into your phone and insert the USB end into the USB port on your laptop.

Turn the phone on so that it can communicate with the computer.

Scroll through the menu that appears when you've plugged in the phone to the laptop.

Select "Disk Drive" or "Removable Disk" from the menu to open access to the phone from your computer.

Open the folder where the document that you want to transfer is located.

Click on the document and drag it to the disk drive for the phone then drop it into the drive folder.

Eject the phone and disconnect the USB port from the phone and the computer.

Tips & Warnings
When you purchased your phone a USB cable should have been included in the package. If you're missing the USB cable that connects your phone to a computer you can purchase one from the manufacturer or purchase a universal cable with customized connectors.
Using your smartphone as a disk drive to transfer documents will work with a Windows based computer or a Mac. Read through your owner's manual for specific requirements for your particular phone.
