How to Burn a Text to a CD on Media Player With Vista

Windows Media Player is a multimedia software that is packaged with Microsoft Windows Vista. Windows Media Player allows users to burn media files such as Windows Media Audio (WMA), MP3 and movie files. Windows Media Player is also capable of burning files that aren't media-based such as text documents. Though burning data is not its primary purpose, it can perform this operation with the same speed and accuracy as it burns the multimedia files.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a blank CD into the CD burner drive.

    • 2

Launch Windows Media Player from its Start Menu location or the desktop.

Navigate to the text file you wish to burn to the CD.

    • 6

Drag and drop the text file onto the Windows Media Player "Burn List" in the middle portion of the software window. The area to drag and drop files is labeled as "Drag items here to create a burn list" in the software window.

    • 7

Click the "Start Burn" button located in the upper portion of the Windows Media Player window. This begins the process of burning the text to CD. During this process, you may encounter several warnings informing you that the media selected may not be compatible with standard CD players and media devices. This warning is generated to inform the user that Windows is about to burn a nonstandard media file.
