How to Get Music on a Tumblr Page
There are two ways that you can share music on your Tumblr: by creating an audio post, or by embedding an audio player into the HTML of your post or page. While an audio post makes it easy for users to listen to your music straight from their dashboard you can only make one audio post per day. You can embed as much audio in as many posts as you want but users cannot listen directly from their dashboard, but instead have to listen to the audio on your page.

Creating an Audio Post

Open your Tumblr dashboard and click the "Audio" link to open a new audio post.

Choose whether you want to upload a file from your computer or post audio that's already hosted online.

Click "Choose File" to select a file from your computer or paste the URL of the externally hosted MP3 files. Audio files must be in MP3 format and no larger than 10 MB.

Add text to the audio post if you want. You do not have to but it helps users to understand what kind of audio you've posted. Click "Create Post." If you're uploading a file it can take a minute or two depending on your Internet connection.

Choose a flash audio player to embed into your post. Amit Agarwal of the technology blog Digital Inspiration posted the code to several flash players, including the Google audio players.

Upload your audio file to a hosting service, such as SoundCloud or Dropbox.

Copy the code for the flash player you want to use and edit in your MP3 file. If you're using one of the codes from Digital Inspiration replace the text "MP3_FILE_URL" with your actual MP3 URL.

Open a new post on your Tumblr dashboard. You can embed the audio in any post type except Chat which does not offer you the option to edit the post in HTML mode.

Click the "HTML" button on the formatting toolbar and paste the edited flash player code. Click "Update." The audio player will display in the rich text editor. Once the rest of the post is finished click "Create Post."

Make sure that you are legally allowed to post the audio before uploading it to your Tumblr page.
