How to Make Your Own Trash Can
Recycling is important, and it is wise to recycle as much as possible. It is important to reuse as many items as you possibly can to keep them out of your trash cans and ultimately out of landfills. Why not start with the garbage can itself? If you have a receptacle around the house that you have considered throwing away, why not turn it into a garbage can instead? Consider those giant popcorn tins that are commonly given as gifts. Does this Spark an idea?

Create a Usable Trash Can

Find a popcorn tin that has been given to you as a gift or purchase one from a store. These tins often come decorated with a variety of designs or as one solid color. Find one that matches your tastes in regard to design that will match your current decor.

Either eat the popcorn in the tin or just throw it away. Wash the empty tin thoroughly with dish soap. Do not leave food in the tin. This can attract rodents or other pests.

Line the newly cleaned popcorn tin with a grocery bag or another type of small trash bag or liner to protect the inside of the tin from getting wet or dirty. This will help prevent rust over time.
