How to Stop Receiving Updates on Facebook
Whenever you post links to your Facebook profile or comment on friends' links, the update feature notifies you to of comments others make after your post. By default, the Facebook website sends you an email or text message every time posts a comment or reply, which could result in a large number of unwanted messages in your email or phone inbox. However, there is a way to prevent turn off updates and stop receiving the messages on your phone or in your email inbox.

Navigate to the Facebook.com login page. Log into your account with your registered email address and password.

Click the drop-down arrow next to the "Account" label on your main profile page. Click "Account Settings" on the drop-down list.

Click the "Notifications" tab on the "My Account" page.

Review the types of notifications currently enabled for your account. Facebook separates notifications into the categories: Facebook, Photos, Groups, Pages, Events, Questions, Notes, Links, Video, Help Center, Places, Deals, Other Updates from Facebook, Credits and Other Apps. Determine the type of updates you want to disable for your account. For instance, you can enable or disable updates you receive after someone comments on a photo with the "Comments on your photo" option under the "Photos" header.

Click the check box to remove the check mark from the update type you want to disable. To disable all updates from Facebook, clear all the check marks from the option boxes on the page.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the "Save Changes" button. You no longer receive updates for the types of Facebook actions, activities or events you specify.
