2
Hide small electronics. Burglars love to steal items like iPods, iPhones, and other types of expensive phones. Many people simply leave these items on a nightstand next to their bed at night, making them an easy target. Keep these small electronics hidden in places where they would not normally be found. For example, put them in a child's toy box or your makeup bag.

Hire a house sitter if you are going away on vacation. A house sitter can watch for any unusual vehicles or activity around your home.

4
Install a security alarm. Noise can be a great deterrent for potential thieves. If an alarm goes off inside of a home, many burglars are dissuaded from continuing their attempts.

5
Put away electronics before leaving. Move the piece to an unlikely spot, such as a closet in a child's bedroom. Do not store electronics in a basement, attic or garage, since robbers frequently check these places first.
