Copy your music collection to your phone and use it as an MP3 player.

Though the HTC Evo only has one gigabyte of internal storage, it has an 8GB microSD card installed. The phone's internal memory is enough to handle the operating system files and applications, so the SD card is free for media. There are multiple ways to transfer your music, videos and other data to your card; the fastest way is to plug it right into your computer. By mounting the SD card after establishing a USB connection, you can transfer your data as if your phone were a flash drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug your HTC Evo into a free USB port on your computer using the provided cable. Wait for a Connect to PC dialog box to appear.

    • 2

Tap "Disk Drive" on the Connect to PC dialog box and tap "Done."

    • 3

Click "Open Folder to View Files" from the Windows AutoPlay dialog on your computer. You can now copy data to and from your phone's microSD card.

    • 4

Click "Computer" from the list of locations on the left side of your Microsoft Explorer window when you have finished copying your data. Right-click your SD card, which is listed as "Removable Disk," and click "Eject." You can now unplug your phone and go about your business or leave it plugged in to charge your battery.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't forget to eject your SD card before unplugging your phone from the computer. Missing this step can cause corruption and data loss on the card.
