How to Do a Print Screen & Paste in Gmail

You can use the Print Screen key on your keyboard to copy an image of your computer screen to your clipboard. You can't paste this image directly into a Gmail message like you can do with text; you need to save it as an image file first. After you have created an image file, using the snipping tool application that is built into Windows, you can attach the file to an email in Gmail and send it. The email's recipient will see a thumbnail or text link to the image in her email program, depending on her email program's settings.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Start," then "All Programs," then the "Accessories" folder, and then click the "Snipping Tool."

    • 2

Click the arrow to the right of "New" and click "Full Screen Snip."

    • 3

Click the "File" menu at the top of the Snipping Tool window, and click "Save As."

    • 4

Type a name for the file and click "Save."

    • 5

Open the Gmail website in your Web browser, and click the "Compose Mail" button at the left side of the Gmail page.

    • 6

Click the "Attach a File" link under the subject box, navigate to the image file you saved on your computer and double-click it.

    • 7

Type in the recipient's email address, email subject and message text. Click "Send."
