Wisconsin Form 1NPR Instructions
Under Wisconsin law, individuals who work in Wisconsin but live in a different state or who have lived in Wisconsin for part of a year are required to file an income tax return with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. Nonresidents and part-year residents can file an income tax return with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue by filing Form 1NPR.

Download Form 1NPR from the Wisconsin Department of Revenue website. The Wisconsin Department of Revenue provides a downloadable version of Form 1NPR, which may be filled out and filed with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

Provide your personal information. Indicate the tax year for which you are filing Form 1NPR. Provide your name, address, filing status and resident status. If you are married, provide your spouse's legal name. Indicate your Wisconsin tax district and whether you wish to donate to the State Election Campaign Fund.

Indicate your income. Disclose any income received, including income derived from wages, interest, dividends, business income, capital gains, pension distributions and unemployment compensation reported on your federal tax return. For each type of income disclosed, indicate the total received in Wisconsin.

Calculate any adjustments to your income. Indicate any adjustments to your income reported on your federal tax return, including educator expenses, moving expenses, business expenses, alimony paid, student loan interest and self-employment tax. For each income adjustment except for educator expenses, health savings account deductions, tuition and domestic production activities, indicate the amount of adjustment earned while living or working in Wisconsin.

Perform the tax computation. On lines 35 through 67, perform the requested calculations to determine the amount of Wisconsin tax owed.

Indicate any payments or credits for your tax return. On lines 68 through 75, indicate any prior tax payments made or tax credits earned, including the earned income, farmland preservation, repayment or homestead credit. On lines 76 through 79, perform the described calculations.

Calculate any refund due or amount owed to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. On lines 80 through 84, perform the described calculations to determine whether you are owed a refund or owe a payment to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

Sign and date Form 1NPR and mail it to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. The mailing address for filing Form 1NPR varies on whether you owe a refund and is listed on the bottom of the form.
