How to Make Dried Apple Rings
Dried apple rings are fresh apples that have been dehydrated and transformed into soft, chewy rings that are sweet and tasty but also healthy and low fat. As long as you know how to properly prep the apples before dehydrating, the process can begin quickly. Be sure to make the dried apple rings plenty ahead of time, as they will take at least 12 hours to dry out. The food dehydrator will preserve the quality of the fruit, so make sure to use ripe apples that are ready to eat. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Rinse some green apples in cold water and remove the skins using a peeler. If there are any bad spots on the apple, cut them away with a knife.
-
2
Use a sharp knife to cut the core from the center of the apple, holding the knife vertically so that the apple as a whole stays in one piece.
-
-
3
Hold the cored apple sideways and slice it into rings that are about 1/8 inch thick.
-
4
Assemble the apple ring slices on the tray or trays of your food dehydrator. Make sure the rings stay separated so they don't dry into each other.
-
5
Replace the trays of the food dehydrator and turn it on. If your dehydrator allows you to enter an exact temperature, set it at 135 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
6
Allow the apple rings to dry until they are very pliable and can bend without breaking. This will take at least 12 hours but could take up to 24 depending on the climate where you live.
