Instructions

  1. Eliminate Existing Cockroaches

    • 1

Spray cockroach insecticide along baseboards, near air vents and ducts and around doorways. Cockroaches use these openings to enter the home, and insecticide will stop them at their point of entry.

    • 2

Use cockroach traps around the home. Traps are effective around the kitchen and the bathroom because cockroaches are often attracted to food and garbage, and certain species of cockroach prefer wet, humid areas like bathrooms.

    • 3

Place traps in each corner of a room to determine where the roaches are entering. Traps will not eliminate whole cockroach populations, but will provide a line of defense and often lead residents to the source of an infestation.

    Preventing Cockroaches

    • 4

Clean and sanitize all cooking surfaces with cleaning sprays and never leave dirty dishes in the sink. Proper sanitation and maintenance prevents cockroaches from finding a source of food.

    • 5

Repair any cracks or damage to floorboards, foundations and walls. Cockroaches use these openings to enter the home, so sealing them will seal out cockroaches as well.

    • 6

Seal and tighten all faucets and pipes with caulk or waterproof sealer. Cockroaches need food, water and shelter to live indoors, so eliminating any leaking water will help drive out and kill cockroaches.
