Use cockroach traps around the home. Traps are effective around the kitchen and the bathroom because cockroaches are often attracted to food and garbage, and certain species of cockroach prefer wet, humid areas like bathrooms.

Place traps in each corner of a room to determine where the roaches are entering. Traps will not eliminate whole cockroach populations, but will provide a line of defense and often lead residents to the source of an infestation.
