How to Use Group Policy to Disable Advanced Display Properties

The advanced settings tab in the Display properties dialog box allows you to change color quality, pixels and screen resolution. As an administrator, you can disable the advanced display properties using the computer's group policy within the registry. This can prevent other users from messing up the advanced settings on your computer. Note that you will need administrator privileges to perform this task. Modifying or deleting incorrect registry entries may result in serious issues with your computer.

      Open the "Start" menu and type "regedit" (without the quotes) in the search box.

      Click "regedit.exe" from the search results to launch the Registry Editor.

      Type the administrator password or click "Continue" to proceed.

      Navigate to the following registry key in the left pane root menu --

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.

      Right-click inside the directory and choose "New" from the context menu.

      Click "DWORD (32-bit) Value."

      Type "NoDispSettingsPage" as the name of the DWORD value. Set value to "1."

      Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.
