How to Draw a Girl Standing
Artists have always strived to capture the female image, whether it's Leonardo da Vinci painting the inscrutable smile on his "Mona Lisa," or Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe screenprint. From an artist's point of view, drawing a girl accurately, whether face or figure, is a challenge. An artist will also always be attracted by beauty, be it a landscape, seascape, tiger, or girl. When an artist has a subject that they really want to draw or paint, then the end result tends to be impressive.

1
Begin with a rough sketch to set up your drawing. The most important aspect to focus on here is to make sure that the figure and head are in proportion, as well as the main features of the girl's face.
-
2
Depict the girl's hair for the first part of your drawing. Begin shading the hair from the darkest shades to the lightest. Check the accuracy of the shading throughout this part of your drawing. The hair should also act as a frame for the face.

3
Draw the girl's ears. Study the shape, lines and shades of the ears, but just as important will be to position them accurately. This will be helpful when aligning the other facial features. Next, draw the girl's eyebrows. Use a flowing technique. Begin from the inner ends of the eyebrows and work outwards. Draw the curve of the eye by beginning from the eyelids, and work downwards. Bear in mind that female eyes are normally bigger than a male's. Next, draw the irises and pupils. Use dark and light shades to depict the light in the girl's eyes. Add long eyelashes.

4
Use the ears as a guide as to where to place the girl's short, round nose, and also her full mouth. From under the tip of the nose, draw the center of the girl's mouth. Shade both the nose and mouth. From a full face perspective, apart from the tip, the nose will be mostly built up through a combination of light and shade. The mouth will be a combination of shades. Draw the curves of the mouth very carefully. End the drawing of the face by depicting the chin, and work upwards to draw the rest of the girl's face. Add light and shade and slight creases in the girl's skin. Give the girl full cheeks by drawing a thin, circular line either side of the mouth.
-
5
Move down to draw the neck and throat of the girl, and then the curve of her shoulders, and then draw her upper arms. Draw the outward curves of the girl's bust, and then the inward curves of her waist and the outward swell of her hips.
-
6
Merge the curves of the hips to the thighs, and straighten the legs down to the feet. The feet should be pointing outwards in opposite directions. Finish off the drawing by depicting the girl's forearms and hands. Place one hand on her waist, with the other hand hanging down. Study the way each individual digit is positioned.

Tips & Warnings
The main features of the face are important in portraying accurately a girl's feminine appearance.
It's necessary to maintain concentration throughout the drawing. It's better to take a break than risk making mistakes, as both the face and figure allow little margin for error.
