How to Get Rid of Mink in a Pond
Mink are found across North America. In most states, mink are protected fur-bearing animals with a distinct trapping season. Wire both doors of a live trap into the open position. Place the live trap beside a burrow or in the middle one of the pathways beside the pond that the mink regularly use.

Leave the trap for several days so the mink become used to the trap. Mink have a suspicious nature, and allowing them to become used to the trap's presence helps to successfully trap them.

Remove the wire from the doors of the trap. Place bait such as fish into the cage. The mink step into the cage to consume the bait, and then the trap slams shut when the mink steps onto the strike plate.

Relocate the mink to a suitable area. Wear gloves when handling the cage. Consult with local authorities to determine the best area in national forest land to set the mink free.
