How to Bean Thread

Jelly beans make festive, brightly colored and non-toxic beads for children's necklaces and bracelets. Jelly bean bracelets and necklaces are made by piercing jelly beans with a needle and threading them onto a piece of string. Jelly bean jewelry is often made as a children's craft for Easter. Make your own jelly bean threaded necklaces and bracelets with your favorite flavors and colors of jelly beans and hand out as inexpensive gifts at Easter time or during other holidays.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the jelly beans that you are going to use to make your necklace or bracelet. Place them in a line next to a fabric measuring tape to keep track of their length. A jelly bean line for a bracelet should be 6 inches long. A jelly bean line for a necklace should be 36 inches long.

    • 2

Use the large sewing needle to poke holes through the jelly beans. Push the needle through the bean from one short end to the other short end. Ensure the needle is going through the jelly bean in a straight line. Poke holes through all of the jelly beans.

    • 3

Cut a piece of thread that is 7 inches long for a bracelet and 36 inches long for a necklace. Place one end of the thread on the needle.

    • 4

String the jelly beans onto the thread in a color pattern of your choice. Leave 1/2 inch open on the bottom of the thread so that you have enough of it to tie.

    • 5

Tie the ends of the thread together into a simple knot to finish making the bracelet or necklace.
