How to Make Your Own Kids Sports Roster
Youth sports rosters are designed for coaches and parents to have an organized list and details regarding the team's names, contact information and other information. Although sports roster templates can be purchased at sporting goods stores, a coach or team leader can simply create a team roster at home at little or no cost. Creating a roster can enable a coach to modify the roster and make additions that can be useful for the team parents, children and other coaches.

1
Create a roster using a spreadsheet from Excel. If you don't have Excel on your computer, then create a table so that it resembles a spreadsheet. At the top of the spreadsheet, write information including the team's name, the coach's name and the season. List the coach's contact information, including phone number and email address.

2
Create the number of rows and columns that you need. There should be one row for every teammate. Include a label at the top of each column. Labels could be the children's names, parents' names, emails of parents, home and cell phone numbers and team numbers for the students. There isn't a wrong way to create a roster using a spreadsheet, just as long as all necessary information is included in an organized fashion.

3
Download a template of a youth sports roster online. Conducting an online search for a free downloading template may be easier than creating one from scratch. Microsoft Office provides a wide array of templates, including sports rosters, and anyone can download the material at no cost. You will have to have the software that is required. For example, many templates require users to have specific versions of Excel or Word. This information can be viewed on the website prior to downloading.

4
Create a roster in chart form on a large piece of poster board. Large rosters that are designed to be displayed and posted during practices and games allow other parents and team players to view the information and have all contact and other details on hand. Purchase a large piece of newsprint paper or poster board and use a black permanent marker to create a chart with rows and columns. Include all necessary information such as team names, team numbers, names of parents and phone numbers.
