How to Make Magic Wax
Magic wax might be part of a purchased magic kit, but you can make this helpful prop out of a common household item -- the glue stick. You can use magic wax to aid in many lightweight, seemingly impossible tricks, such as the card in ceiling trick, bottle cap levitation and string or money tricks. Using misdirection, sleight of hand and patter, or deceiving chatter, a good magician entertains and mesmerizes a crowd with mystical illusions. However, use a homemade, inexpensive conjurer's wax to help you perform some tricky magic and amuse friends.
Instructions

1
Unscrew the cap of a glue stick.
-
2
Twist the glue completely out of the stick by winding the dial until it stops. Leave the glue stick attached to the tube.
-
-
3
Stand or lay the stick on the counter to dry out for 2 to 3 hours. The semi-dried glue becomes a tacky, wax-like substance that you can use to temporarily hold things together.
-
4
Turn the glue stick dial to put the glue back inside the tube.
-
5
Poke a toothpick into the top of the waxy glue to remove the amount needed for a trick. The less glue used to secure something, the better, to keep the "secret" as invisible as possible.
-
6
Replace the glue stick tube's lid when not in use to ensure the glue doesn't dry out too much, becoming hard and unusable for magic tricks.

Tips & Warnings
Depending on the heat and humidity of the space, the glue will form the right consistency in different amounts of time. Check the glue every 20 minutes for a waxy, yet tacky feel by pulling a small amount off the stick with your finger and thumb and rolling it into a tiny ball. The glue should not be too sticky or too waxy -- it should stick but peel from your fingers without leaving residue behind.
Alternatively, use candle wax as magic wax. Warm the candle wax in your fingers to make it stick.
