Curtain Installation
Adding curtains to a room not only adds color but can also change the overall mood of the room and add a designer look. For example, install sleek flat curtains for a modern look or puffy billowed curtains for a more traditional look. Installing curtains isn't difficult, but you'll need to take accurate measurements and decide on style. For example, hang tab-top curtain rods higher, about 6 inches up from the top of the window, so you don't see the through the open tabs. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Measure the total length of the outside of the window frame with a metal tape measure.
-
2
Add at least 4 inches to the total width, which allows the poles to extend out from each side of the window. Plan for extra width if you want to install full, formal curtains; this allows you to open the curtains without obstructing the view or natural light.
-
-
3
Use a pencil and tape measure to mark the place you want to hang the rod, ensuring you mark the same distance from the outside of the window frame and the same height up from the top edge of the frame for both sides of the window. Check your marks with a level for accuracy, and adjust the marks as necessary.
-
4
Drill pilot holes in the wall to make installing the rod easier.
-
5
Install the curtain rods with the hardware, according to the manufacturer's instructions. Exact methods will vary based upon the type and style of rod you purchase, as well as the type of wall you have. For example, you'll need different hardware for drywall studs and concrete walls
-
6
Slide curtains on the rods and attach the finials to the rod to complete installation.
