How to Store Cooked Shrimp
Shrimp is an excellent source of lean protein that provides a mild, sweet flavor to dishes. Whether its stewing in a gumbo, skewered on the grill or battered and deep-fried, it is adaptable to many types of preparation. After cooking up a batch of shrimp, storing it the right way for the proper amount of time will prevent spoilage. Keep your leftover shrimp at its freshest by using the right methods of storage. Allow the shrimp to cool for 15 minutes after cooking.

Place shrimp in a small plastic container. Cover the container with a lid.

Store the shrimp in the refrigerator for up to three days. Shrimp should smell fresh and have a firm texture. Discard shrimp that smells foul or contains mold.
Freezer

Place shrimp in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 hours until cold.

Put the shrimp in a plastic freezer bag, squeeze out the air and seal.

Store the frozen shrimp in the freezer for up to 12 months. Discard shrimp that are shriveled or smell bad.

Write the date on the container or bag to help you remember when you made the shrimp.
Do not try to eat spoiled shrimp. It can cause food poisoning.
