How to Use Diaper Wipes

How to Use Diaper Wipes thumbnail
Cleaning a baby's bottom is just one of many uses for diaper wipes.

Diaper wipes aren't just for babies' bottoms. They come in handy for a variety of things, such as dirty hands, sticky handles and crumb-covered tables. The white, moist wipes are sold by retailers everywhere because of their vast range of uses. Wipes often come in a reusable plastic container that may feature a cartoon character on the exterior for children, or a plain white background. You can also buy individually wrapped wipes to carry in your pocket or purse.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the plastic seal from the container. The seal is used to prevent tampering with the wipes.

    • 2

Locate the front lip of the container. The lid is attached to the container with plastic hinges and has a front lip that snaps closed. The lid is removable to refill the container with more wipes.

    • 3

Open the top flap and the lid of the container. The wipes will feed through the top flap for easy access. Grab the top wipe and feed it through the top flap to get the wipes started. Do not disconnect the wipes from each other; they are hooked together with a perforated edge. Replace the lid, close the flap, and the diaper wipes are ready.

    • 4

To remove one wipe, open the flap and pull up on the wipe. It should pull out of the container and tear off at the perforation.

    • 5

Apply the wipe to the surface of the area you want to wipe down. For example, if you are wiping a baby's bottom, use one side of the wipe -- it does not matter which side -- and wipe the area clean.

    • 6

Properly dispose of the wipe when finished. Avoid flushing wipes down the toilet because the wipes may clog the drain. However, you can purchase flushable wipes for use in the toilet.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep the wipe container closed when not in use to prevent the wipes from drying out.

  • If they do dry out, add a small amount of water to the container and close the container for 24 hours. The wipes should soak up moisture from the water.
