How to Clean the Screen on a DSi

A damp cloth will remove smudges from your DSi screens.

Nintendo's DSi and DSi XL consoles have two screens: an upper display screen and a lower touch screen that is operated by tapping it with the included stylus. Fingerprints, smudges and dust can appear on both DSi screens. Nintendo warns against using cleansers or submerging the DSi in any liquid when cleaning the screens on the hand-held console. A gentle cleaning with a lint-free cloth should be sufficient to remove dirt from your DSi's screens.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the DSi console and unplug it from the AC charger.

    • 2

Moisten one end of the cloth with water. Wring out excess water.

    • 3

Wipe both screens of the DSi with the damp end of the cloth. Use light pressure and do not scrub the screens.

    • 4

Wipe the screens with a dry end of the cloth to remove moisture.

    • 5

Tear off a 4-inch piece of transparent tape. Form a loop with the tape with the sticky side facing out.

    • 6

Dab at the screens with the tape to pick up any remaining lint or dirt.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the battery cover from the back of the console and take out the battery if water or another liquid gets into your DSi, then let the console and battery air dry.
