Program a Sony Universal Remote Control

It takes only three steps to program a Sony Universal Remote Control. While some trial and error may be required to get the right codes input to control your equipment, the pleasure at getting rid of several extra remote controls will far outweigh the hassle in getting it programmed.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Press the Off button and the Mute button on the remote at the same time.

  2. Step 2

Press the Component Select button for the device you wish to program.

  3. Step 3

Enter the two-digit code of the product you are programming into the remote and push the Enter key.

  4. Step 4

Look up the codes you need to program your Sony Universal Remote on the Sony Remote Code Support website.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your exact product is not listed, try the codes for other products from the same manufacturer. Typically a manufacturer will use similar programming codes for all of their products.
