How to Configure a VCR for a Wireless Security Camera
Wireless security cameras use radio frequencies to transmit the audio-video signal to a TV or recording device such as a VCR. Although some wireless cameras use the Internet to send signals to a computer, hooking up to a VCR requires different equipment. You need a wireless camera system with a receiver to capture the camera signal. The receiver is then hooked up to a VCR from a remote location within the transmission distance of the camera. All-in-one camera systems come with everything you need to hook up the VCR.

1
Position the wireless camera over the desired surveillance area. Connect the camera with the supplied power cord to an electrical outlet.

2
Connect the coaxial cable supplied with the camera kit from the threaded output on the receiver to the "RF IN" jack on the rear of the VCR. The rotating coupler on each end of the cable turns clockwise for a tight connection.

3
Plug in the power cords and switch on both the receiver and VCR.
-
4
Tune the VCR to the channel designated for the security camera, pressing the up or down channel selector buttons on the front of the VCR. The owner's manual for the camera will list the correct channel setting, or you can contact the manufacturer.
-
5
Load a video cassette into the VCR and press "Record" to begin taping the surveillance area. You also can program the VCR for delayed recordings, following the procedures for your particular model. Get more recording time out of a video cassette by pressing the "Tape Speed" button and selecting LP for up to four hours of recording time or SLP for six hours.
