Writing tweets that people want to read takes a bit of practice.

Twitter, the micro-blogging tool started in 2006, now has around 200 million registered users who access the service regularly. If you are one of them and have a following of more than 250 people. then you may also have noticed that it is difficult to keep up with all those tweets on a daily basis. In order for your tweets to be spotted by a follower or soon-to-be follower you need to ensure that those tweets stand apart, so that more people follow.

      Write and share posts, links and ideas that other people find useful and interesting on Twitter. This way they are likely to "retweet" that content which means more people see your tweets.

      Produce tweets that are insightful where you come across as an expert in your field. Your followers or soon-to-be followers appreciate content that is based on subject expertise which they can learn from.

      Tweet about other businesses, other products and services that you have personal experience with and which you can talk positively about. For example, review a book in your area of expertise and let people know what you thought. This will help make your tweets stand out from the others.

      Use hash-tags (#) to start targeted conversations about key topics. This will make your tweets special as the content of your message become easier to gauge in terms of quality of expertise and content.

Tips & Warnings

  • Word of warning about using hash-tags on Twitter. Don't overdo them, some followers may find it difficult to read your tweets if they are full of hash-tags, for example "#Morning all on #Twitter, I have bought an #awesome #Sony, " may be hard to read.
