How to Make Facebook Chat Not Pop Out
Facebook's Chat feature can be viewed in one of two ways: as a bar at the bottom of the Facebook site or as a popped-out window. Popping the chat box out allows you to continue chatting with Facebook users in a separate window, even if you decide to minimize the Facebook page and do other things on your computer. If you want to make the chat box a toolbar again and not have it popped out, you can do so by changing a setting in the Facebook Chat options.

Log on to Facebook with your email address and password.

Click the "Options" button on the popped-out Facebook Chat window. This window has a list of your online Facebook Friends in it. If your chat is set to be "popped out," it will show up as a new browser window on top of the Facebook site you're currently viewing.

Return Facebook chat to its normal location by clicking the "Pop in Chat" option. You might also have to click the small box near the bottom of the Facebook screen that says "Pop in Chat" when you hover over it. The Facebook Chat service will now be shown as a toolbar instead of a popped-out window.
