How to View All Brushes Like GIMP in Photoshop

GIMP is a freeware photo editing program that works on Windows-based and Apple Macintosh computers. In GIMP, to see "Brushes," all you do is click the "Paintbrush Tool" button in the Toolbar, then click the "Brushes" button in the bottom part of the Toolbar. A popup shows all the brushes available. You can get the "Brushes" to appear in Photoshop nearly as easily.

Open Adobe Photoshop and then open either a blank "New" document from the "File" menu or a digital image to work with. In the side Toolbar, click on the "Brush Tool." In the top Toolbar, click the small arrow next to the paint brush icon. This will give you a list of "Brush Tool" styles you can select for your paint brush. These include, "Airbrush Soft Round 50% Flow," "Granite" and "No Style" among others. If you cannot see all the brushes, click the small, upper right corner arrow and add brush styles by going down to the bottom of the popup submenu and selecting "Art History," "Brushes" or other sets. For each one, you must click the "Append" button in the popup to add them.

Go to the "Brush Tool" in the side Toolbar and click it. In the top Toolbar, click the arrow to the right side. This will give you a popup selector for all the brushes available in a scrollable browser. You also can set the brush sizes with "Master Diameter" here as well as the "Hardness" of the brush. Again, using the small arrow button in the top right, you can add all the brushes one group at a time to this selection. Simply choose a group and click it, then click "Append" in the popup.

Go to the "Window" menu, as a third alternative way, to see all the brushes available in Photoshop. Click on the "Brushes" selection and you get a palette of all the brushes as well as controls for them. If you need the brushes showing and available at all times, this is the method to use. You can select "Shape Dynamics," "Texture," "Airbrush" and other parameters for your brushes here as well.
