How to Program a Universal RCA Gemstar for My JVC TV
Universal remote controls, such as the RCA Gemstar Universal Remote, allow users to control a number of electronic devices with a single remote. For the remote to work with these devices, it must be programmed with the proper "remote code," which varies depending on the device. If you have a JVC television and wish to program your RCA Gemstar remote to work with it, set up the remote. Consult your remote manual, and find all available codes for the JVC televisions (see Resources).

Turn on your JVC television manually. Press and hold the "TV" button on your RCA remote.

Enter one of the codes found in Step 1 into the remote while holding the "TV" button.

Press the "On-Off" button on the remove, with the remote set to TV. If the remote does not turn the television off, repeat Steps 2 through 4 with another code from the manual. Once the remote can turn off the television, it has been properly programmed.

Program other devices to work with the remote in the same fashion.
