How to Do Combo Attacks in "Mother 3"
In "Mother 3," you can perform a combo attack when physically attacking an enemy in battle. Each battle theme has a specific beat, and this beat is the key to performing combo attacks. By pressing the "A" button in time with the battle theme's beat, you can perform additional hits, and will do so for as long as you keep pace with the battle theme's beat. Each additional combo hit will inflict additional damage, and you can extend a combo to 16 hits.

Listen to the battle music and determine the time signature used for the battle theme. Most battle themes in "Mother 3" are in 4/4 time, though some boss battles and special battles use battle themes with different time signatures.

Select the "Bash" option in the combat menu. Select an enemy to attack and press the "A" button until your character attacks. You will hear a musical chord if your character strikes the enemy.

Tips & Warnings
You can put enemies to sleep with special items and PK powers. You will hear the enemy's heartbeat while the enemy is sleeping, and his heartbeat will be in time with the battle theme's time signature.
