How to Edit the Avatar on DeviantART

If you want to change the default avatar on your DeviantArt account to one that is more personal, or if you find yourself becoming tired of your avatar, change the avatar on the "Edit Settings and Profile" page on your account. Editing or changing your avatar on DeviantArt is not quite as simple as uploading a photo. An avatar must be 50-by-50 pixels and can only be in the form of a ".gif," ".jpeg" or ".png" file.

Instructions

1. Open the image you want to use as you DeviantArt avatar in a photo-editing program. Resize the image to 50 pixels high by 50 pixels wide. Save the image as a ".gif," ".jpeg" or ".png" file.

2. Open your Web browser, go to the DeviantArt website, and log in to your account.

3. Mouse over your DeviantArt user name in the top menu, beside the search bar. Click on "Settings" in the drop-down menu that appears.

4. Click "Change your Avatar" in the Avatar content box.

5. Click "Upload Image" in the frame that appears. Select the image file that you want to be your avatar from your computer and click "Open." Use the "Zoom" slider and hand icon to center your avatar how you would like it to appear. When you are done, Click "Save."
