How to Make a Frost Costume

Draw inspiration from the colors of winter when creating your costume.

Winter themed costumes, including a "frost" costume, are appropriate for all ages. Choices in the cut of fabrics and the various garments can take this costume from playful and fun to sexy and mature. Beauty and makeup choices can enhance the overall effect. Apart from Halloween, holiday theme parties and seasonal festivities are a great time to make your own frost costume.

Instructions

1. Select a color theme for your costume and makeup. Use silvers, whites, greys and light, icy blues. Consider glitter, rhinestones and other sparkling textural elements to enhance the overall effect and give the allusion of frozen frost. Find inspiration in images of winter, or match your color choice to clothing that you have conveniently on hand. Consider winter fabrics, such as fur liners and trims.

2. Select your garments. Staying within your color palette, start with the main outfit and work down to the shoes and accessories. For a mature look, consider skirts and dresses in a frosty color or a shimmering texture that is similar to glistening ice. For a fun costume, wear weather clothing such as parkas, long sleeves, hooded tops, mittens and tights. Accessorize using sparkling earrings, snowflake or icicle pins and jewelry and shoes that are made of clear acrylic.

3. Employ beauty and makeup tricks to give yourself a frosty glow. Keep the look chic and mature by sweeping a silver, white or shimmering shadow over the eyelid. For fun, try white facial makeup. Use white mascara and blue eyeliner and glossy or colored lipstick. Spray the hair with white hair spray or pin decorative snowflakes or icicles in the hair.
