How to Clear AIM Archives
The AOL Instant Messenger program allows Web users to chat with one another by typing and sending instantaneous messages. In some cases, you may want to review the archives--particularly if the content of a chat session was important to you. In other instances, you may wish to completely clear the archives of any content. You can clear the AIM history to ensure that the content you typed or received will no longer be visible on your account.

Double-click the "AIM" icon on your computer to open the program.

Click the "Edit" menu, and select "Settings."

Click the "IM Logging" tab.

Click the "Delete Log Files" button. The AIM archives are now cleared.

Tips & Warnings
Click to uncheck the boxes next to "Log IMs" and "Log Chats" to turn off AIM's ability to archive your content.
