How to Link to a Skype Profile

Skype is sometimes used as an alternative to a traditional phoneline.

If you use Skype to keep in touch with business contacts or colleagues, you may have need to publicly advertise your Skype profile. The Skype Button is an automatically generated widget you can paste within your website or blog. You can also insert it into an email signature. Using the Skype Button is free, though you will need to have the ability to insert HTML code into your website or email signature.

Instructions

1. Visit Skype's "Get A Skype Button" website. Type your Skype user name into the text field provided.

2. Select an icon for your Skype profile link. You have the choice of six different icons. Four of them are static icons of different sizes and colors. The other two change to display your current Skype status. Once you have selected the icon you like best, check the radio button beside it.

3. Check the "Web HTML" button if you will be linking to your Skype profile on a Web page. Check the "Email HTML" button if you will be creating a link within your email signature.

4. Copy the automatically generated HTML code. Paste it into the relevant field within your website, blog or email signature settings.
