"The Movies" is a simulation computer game released by Lionhead Studios for the PC and Mac OS X platforms. The game places you in control of a burgeoning Hollywood movie studio, and you must produce films while you expand your studio and keep your stable of actors and directors satisfied. To keep your staff happy, cast them in films, furnish them with trailers and increase their salaries. Though stars' salaries automatically increase as their star power rating goes up, you can also manually adjust salaries through the "Finance" screen.
Left-click on the balance indicator at the top right-hand corner of the main studio lot screen. A "Finance" screen will appear. You can also drag and drop any star or director into the Production Office building to bring up the "Finance" screen.
Left-click on the right-hand arrow to switch to the "Stars/Directors Salary" screen.
Left-click on the "Up" icon near the star you wish to give a raise to. Every click raises the salary by one green diamond.
Confirm the salary change and return to the studio lot by left-clicking the "Close" button at the top right-hand corner of the "Finance" screen.
Tips & Warnings
- You can use the same procedure to raise the salary of directors.
- Don't raise the pay of one star too quickly, or other stars will be jealous and show an decrease in happiness.
- Overpaying your stars will strain the studio's budget.
