How to Make a Poster for a School Secretary
Secretaries help keep schools running smoothly. Their duties can include maintaining attendance records, registering children and bookkeeping functions. Sometimes, their work can also include bandaging a student's knee, dealing with an irate parent, or coordinating the schedules of the principal and the parent-teacher association. Creating a poster is an easy and affordable way to show how much you appreciate all the secretary does for a school and its children, staff and parents. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Choose a theme or idea for your poster. For instance, you might want to do an acrostic-style poster, where you write the secretary's name in a vertical line on a poster board and use each letter to write out something nice about the secretary. Another option is to ask students for a few ideas about what they think a school secretary does and design your poster around these thoughts, or use a poem about school secretaries as the centerpiece of your poster.

2
Select a brightly colored poster board or large sheet of art craft paper to use as your base.

-
3
Write a heading for your poster. Place a large greeting or salutation at the top of your poster to give it an anchor to draw in the eyes. The wording can be simple, such as "We Love You, Ms. Bob," or "Thank You For All You Do."
-
4
Center your title or heading. With a pencil, write a dot at the center of the poster, where you want your title to be placed. Count the number of characters in your title and then using that number, write your title out so that half of your letters are on one side of the dot and the other half are on the other side of the dot. If you have an odd number of characters, place your middle letter on the dot.
-
5
Include a picture or pictures of the secretary, if possible. The best types of pictures are ones that include the secretary interacting with staff or children. Arrange them in an eye-catching format.
-
6
Ask the children from a particular class or grade-level to sign the poster in different-color markers. For younger children, like kindergartners, have each student place a hand print on the poster and have either the child or teacher print the child's name above it.
-
7
Add glitter, a picture of your school mascot or other elements to your poster to give it added visual appeal. You may also want to add a border to your entire poster or just to the title.
